Hard Eight aka Syndey review
Slow start but picked up nicely. Wish I could see the true PT Anderson cut but this one was still pretty good. You can see him building up to what would end up becoming his great films.

Better than I thought it would be but still okay. John Hawkes was really good.
it was that kinda funny where you don’t really laugh out loud at all, maybe a light chuckle at best. It was okay, better than Bruno but overall just okay.
Loved a lot of the shots and angles in this film. The story was interesting and different. Not sure about the ending being tied up so quickly, but wasn’t mad about it or anything.
The first thing I hear from people who saw this movie is how depressing it is. It was depressing, but not that much. Maybe it’s because I can think of other movies that are way more depressing or because I don’t care for Nick Cage really. I thought it was an interesting story and the fact the writer wrote it pretty much about himself and then killed himself makes the story even more interesting. I just wanted them to show Nick going pee, I mean he’s constantly drinking and never has to go, but Elisabeth Shue drinks a lil bit and they show her peeing. I dunno, not realistic enough in that element.
I love how twisted and dark it ended up being. Also the way the story had you constantly switching who you felt sorry for and rooted for. Not for everyone, and not just because it has subtitles.
other great song by Mr. Castleton
you know he has a street named after him in Rowland Heights by the Puente Hills Mall, the same mall where they filmed Back to the Future, so by connection, Gavin Castleton is back to the future
Here is an epic looping version of an unreleased track from 2003 called “Chameleon.” I’m using Ableton Live 8.2.7, an FCB 1010 Foot Controller, a TC Helicon VoiceLive Play vocal FX pedal, a Roland JP-8000, a Wurlitzer, an Akai MPK25, Puremagnetik samples, a TLM 103 microphone, a Sennheiser 602 microphone, an SM58, and a rap hat.

I think I was expecting more of a crime drama from this but to think back about it, I think I like it the way it was, because it was more about the toppling down of a small crime family, it didn’t matter much how they got to where they were. The relationships and betrayals are what mattered. It was pretty good.
Pretty funny, especially when he kicks the door down and the grandma goes flying. I think it could’ve been most messy looking with trying to look like a bad 70s flick like Dolemite with the boom showing and what not cause it seemed like they did that at the beginning and stopped and did a lil again towards the end. Overall pretty good flick.
This was a lot better than I thought it would be. It had a lot of funny moments, adult jokes and hidden things, and a great soundtrack. It got cliched towards the end but it was a kid’s movie so you have to expect that.
I liked this, I know most people won’t care for it. It’s one of those films that are marketed more suspenseful and action packed than they actually are. It’s slow and has suspense but never really is action packed. I bet somewhere there’s an alternate version of the ending too with the ending I thought it could’ve had.
It was what I thought it would be, okay at best. It had funny moments but I just felt it just kept going and there wasn’t much an arch in the story and I kinda just wanted it to end already. There were interesting things about it but over all, not enough to make it really good.
I thought this would be different but it was still good. Kinda sad at parts. Overall pretty good.
Except of a couple parts, this was an almost typical French romantic drama with hints of comedy. If they didn’t have the various thought voice overs and shift in character focus, I think it would’ve fell flat. It was okay.
